Sustainable and Clean Energy Project in Haqel – Jbeil
A pioneering model for sustainable local development
The Sustainable and Clean Energy Project in Haqel was launched through a collaborative effort between the private sector and the local community. This initiative aims to provide residents of Haqel with a clean, affordable, and sustainable energy source, setting an example for similar projects across Lebanon.
The project brings together three key partners. Solid Group took charge of building and implementing the power station. The Haqel Charity Association played a central role in engaging with the local community and managing household subscriptions. CDDG ensured transparent governance and proper oversight to guarantee the project’s long-term sustainability.
The main objectives of the project are to transition to environmentally friendly energy, reduce electricity costs for residents by 30 to 40 percent, and, after covering the initial setup costs, operate the system at a rate that only covers running expenses.
Clean energy is no longer a dream. It has become a reality in Haqel—and it holds the promise of expanding across Lebanon.
